Global Warming 15
Kyoto, Japan in Autumn
The Kyoto Protocol is discussed in detail: what nations have signed it, what requirements are imposed on Annex 1 countries, etc. By conforming to the Kyoto protocol, a rather small temperature avoidance can theoretically be achieved by restricting carbon dioxide emissions. Some major nations are not required to control carbon emissions, e.g., Russia, China, India, etc. Failure of the signatory nations to meet the requirements results in fines. The creation and the trading of carbon credits are reviewed.
